Send A Smile 4 Kids (Canada) collects and distributes handmade greeting cards to nurses, staff and families to give to hospitalized children on their birthdays and other special dates. Our focus will be on providing happy, upbeat birthday cards and "glad you're going home" cards but we will also make and provide cards for holidays throughout the year.



Types of cards needed

All types of cards are needed, but the best are those with no specific sentiment. After all, a card with no sentiment can be used for many different occasions, but a card that says "Happy birthday" can only be used for birthdays.

Specific types of cards needed include:
  • Blank cards (no sentiment, suitable for any occasion)
  • Congratulations
  • Just because
  • Birthday
  • St Patrick's Day
  • Valentine's Day
  • Mother's & Father's Day (for the kids to give)
  • Easter
  • Halloween
  • Thanksgiving
  • Hanukkah*
  • Kwanzaa*
  • Christmas
  • Christmas gift tags 
  • Thank you (for the kids to give)
  • New Year's
  • Chinese New Year*
Please keep the cards upbeat and happy. We want to take the child's mind off the hospital so please do not make "get well" or "sorry you're sick" type cards.

Deadlines for holiday cards will be posted throughout the year but don't worry if you miss the deadline, we will just hold onto the cards until the next year.

*There is a limited need for cards for ethnic or religious specific holidays
